The 2026 Ford Expedition Has No Wireless Charging Pad. Here Is How to Add One.
Share
If you ordered a 2026 Ford Expedition and went looking for the wireless charging pad, you did not miss it. It is not there. Ford's 2026 order guide lists the pad under deleted equipment, and it is gone from every trim, not just the base truck.
This guide covers what changed, what the truck still gives you for power, and the realistic ways to get wireless charging back.
What Ford changed, year by year
| Model year | Wireless charging pad |
|---|---|
| 2025 | Included on Active with the 202A group, Tremor, Platinum and King Ranch. Not on the base Active (200A). It sat in the center stack media bin. |
| 2026 | Not offered on any trim. |
| 2027 | Back, but not for everyone: standard on King Ranch, part of the Driver's Package on Platinum and Tremor, not available on Active. |
Ford has not published a reason for the 2026 deletion. Owners on the forums have guessed at cost cutting, but that is speculation, not a Ford statement.
Was the 2025 pad any good?
It worked, with the usual factory-pad complaints. Owners reported phones getting very warm while charging slowly, and an Edmunds editor reported heat problems on the pad in a tech review of the 2025 truck. Ford also pushed a software update for the 2025 wireless charging module that it said improved thermal management and reliability. So a 2026 owner is not missing a perfect feature. They are missing a convenient one.
What your 2026 still gives you
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are part of Ford Digital Experience on every trim, so you do not need a cable for maps or music.
- USB-C ports up front in the media bin and the main console bin. Ford's order guide lists USB-C only in the front row.
- 12V power points in the front row, plus a 400W household-style outlet in the console on most trims.
One gap worth knowing: Ford publishes 60W for the rear seat-back USB ports but does not publish a wattage for the front ports. That matters for charging speed, and we come back to it below.
Three ways to add wireless charging
1. A loose charging pad in the bin
The cheapest route. Drop a flat Qi or Qi2 pad in the media bin and plug it into the USB-C port. It is hidden and costs very little. The downsides are the same ones the factory pad had: the phone sits flat in an enclosed space with no airflow, it can slide off the coil, and you cannot see the screen.
2. A universal magnetic charger
Vent, suction and bezel-clamp MagSafe chargers are everywhere, and several bezel-style ones are now sold for the Expedition's 13.2-inch screen. They put the phone where you can see it and the magnets keep it aligned on the coil. Fit and finish vary a lot, and anything hanging off a vent or the screen bezel is a part designed for many vehicles rather than this one.
3. A mount made for this interior
A few companies make Expedition-specific mounts for the 2025 and newer truck. ProClip sells a clip-in dash base (the phone holder is separate), A-Tach sells a low dash bracket, and The OCD Plug sells a console-tray charger that needs the closing tray.
Ours is the Expedition MagSnap. It sits low and centered in the console, holds an Apple MagSafe Charger in a factory-look cradle, and routes the cable out of sight. Nothing is drilled and nothing is glued, so it comes out as cleanly as it went in. It fits every 2025 and newer Expedition and Expedition MAX, which includes the 2026 trucks that lost the pad.
It is $49.99 if you already own a second-generation Apple MagSafe Charger, or $94.99 with the charger in the box. The mount has no magnets of its own. The charger is what holds the phone.
Getting full charging speed
Apple rates its current MagSafe Charger at up to 25W on supported iPhones when it is fed by a 30W power source, and 15W on older MagSafe models. Because Ford does not publish what the front USB-C ports deliver, you cannot assume the bin port will hit that.
If speed matters to you, the simple fix is a 30W USB-C adapter in one of the 12V power points. Then you know what the charger is getting. If you mostly want the phone to stop losing charge while it runs navigation, try the factory USB-C port first. It may be all you need.
Common questions
Can a dealer add the factory pad to a 2026?
We have not found a Ford-supported retrofit. If your dealer offers one, ask for the part number and whether it is covered under warranty before agreeing to it.
Does the 2027 pad use magnets?
Owners who have pulled the 2027 part report it is a magnetic Qi2 unit. Ford has not published the spec, so treat that as owner-reported.
Will a mount for the 2018 to 2024 Expedition fit?
No. The 2025 redesign changed the dash and console completely. Anything listed for the fourth generation will not fit a 2025, 2026 or 2027.
